Why Isn’t My Air Conditioner Working?

Why Isn’t My Air Conditioner Working?

You wake up one morning and realize that your home is a little warmer than you’d like. You walk over to your thermostat to realize that something is definitely wrong with your air conditioner. You immediately start to think about what you can do to fix it and how long you’ll have to deal with the heat. But don’t worry, because Automatic Air is here with some of the most common reasons why your air conditioner might be acting up.

One of the first things to check is your thermostat. This may seem like a simple step, but it is one that is often overlooked. Your thermostat may simply have been set on the wrong setting, which is an easy fix. Another thing to check, if you have an energy saving thermostat, is the batteries

Next, check your air filter. If your air filter is clogged with dust, it can cause the air conditioning system to not work as effectively, or at all. A dirty filter also hurts the efficiency and reliability of your HVAC system(s). Consistently dirty filters will also shorten the life of your system.

Once your have checked your air filters, and confirmed that they are clean, you should check to make sure that you don’t have either a blown fuse or tripped breaker. After checking these three things, if you still cannot find a solution, then it is time to call Automatic Air and have one of our professionals come out to inspect your air conditioning unit. If you find yourself without air on one of these hot summer days, give us a call at (502) 805-1790.
