During these chilly days with below freezing temperatures, it can be tempting to turn to a space heater to provide extra warmth in your home. If you are using a space heater, it is important that you know about the risks that come with using one and take safety precautions.   • Never place your space heater on carpet or uneven surfaces. The best place your space heater to work most efficiently, is in an open space, sitting on a flat surface. 
  • Never plug your space heater into an extension cord or power-strip. Doing this can increase the changes or overheating, which can lead to a fire. 
  • Never place your space heater within 3 feet of anything that can burn. People often make the mistake of placing their space heater next to pillows, rugs, and curtains, which can lead to a fire.
